Sebastian Doubles the Exposure at the New York Fashion Week Spring 2006 Designer Showcase

Artistic Team Makes Runway Waves in the Name of Fashion and Shares their Tips and Techniques with You!

Amidst the flashing bulbs, celebrity-flanked catwalks and fashion frivolity, Sebastian International sashayed into the Big Apple, partnering with People's Revolution to sponsor a collection of celebrated international designers — including Jeremy Scott, Costello Tagliapietra, Zaldy and Alexandre Herchcovitch — presenting their Spring ‘06 collections during New York Fashion Week from September 9-16, 2005.

Here's are samples of each designer showcase that inspired the looks created by the Artistic Teams...

Rachel Comey

Hair Look: Saturate hair with Sebastian Originals Shpritz Forte and blow-dry to create fly-away texture. Divide hair into two large sections (one on each side of head) and twist under and back in a large roll, with ends meeting at back of head in an offset flower-shaped chignon. Use Sebastian Originals Shaper Hair Spray at the end to support the fly-aways.

Zaldy

Hair Look: Pull back hair into a high and tight ponytail with Sebastian Shaper Smoothing Groomer . Hair split in two and roped into a triangle. Two ropes are crafted on side of head. Finished with Sebastian Originals Shaper Hair Spray.

Atil Kutoglu

Hair Look: Hair needs a slightly frizzy texture. If hair is naturally wavy, it should first be brushed out with Sebastian Originals Shaper Hair Spray . If it is straight, hair should be backcombed using Sebastian Originals Shaper Hair Spray and then straightened with a hot iron and brushed out to achieve the desired texture. Hair is pulled back into a half up-do, allowing pieces to fall around the face. Remaining hair pulled back into a low ponytail, with pieces falling down at random. Pinned hair in erratic places to create ridges in texture. Finished with Sebastian Originals Zero g Hair Spray.

Jennifer Nicholson

Hair Look: First dampen hair with water and, using hands, blow dry with Xtah Crude Clay . Use hands to shape hair to create an uneven texture while hair is pulled back into a messy ponytail. Then twist hair into bun and pin so that it rests on the middle crown of head. Lightly finish with Sebastian Originals Shaper Zero G Hair Spray.

Costello Tagliapietra

Hair Look: Dry hair is set using Sebastian Originals Sphritz Forte Hair Spray, a round brush and a blow dryer to give it a dry, tactile texture. Using hands, hair is twisted into two smaller sections on either side of the head and one larger on top of the head, creating an uneven silhouette. Hair is then gathered at the back and pinned into a low, off-center bun. Hair surrounding the face was softly peeled back to create a wispy, whimsical look and set with Sebastian Originals Zero g Hair Spray and a blow dryer.

Alexandre Herchcovitch

Hair Look: Three different types of braids used for look. Three rows of cornrows used on the side of the head towards the face. Three rows of Bo Derik-style braids moving from side to back of head. French braid used for top section of hair. Hair extensions added prior to braiding to make all braids 22 inches long and approximately ½ inch size. Each braid secured with clear elastic and bead.

Venexiana

Hair Look: Undone with Barouque braids. Pull back hair into a casual, distressed high bun with Sebastian Originals Zero g Hair Spray . Place above crown of head. Use braided hand-made hair extensions and wrap uneven braids around the bun in a Baroque ‘S' shape. Use Xtah Crude Clay on fringe to pull out loose strands.

A La Disposition

Hair Look: Two different finished looks. First, section hair into horizontal panels. Back-comb each section; spray with Sebastian Originals Zero g Hair Spray ; flat-iron and then brush out. Result is a frizzy, dry, soft texture.

Look #1: Part hair from ear to ear into two halves. Pull bottom section back into high, tight bun. The front section should be brushed forward and rolled back to form an uneven Victorian roll of folded-over fringe; secured with pins. Finish look with Sebastian Originals Shaper Zero g Hair Spray.

Look #2: Part hair from ear to ear; pull bottom section back into tight, high, off-center bun. Split the sides into three sub-sections. First section to be backcombed from roots to end. Second section to be backcombed an inch away from the root. Took small 1 inch curling iron and created a wave pattern in concave and convex waves. Top section is backcombed 2 inches from the root. Use same technique with iron to make the wave. Brush out and break up two sections and slightly pin several pieces back into the bun. Finish with Sebastian Originals Shaper Zerog Hair Spray.

Jeremy Scott

Hair Look: Part hair into horizontal section using Laminates Hair Spray. Use a wide patterned crimping iron, crimp each panel, set with Laminates Hair Spray. Panels were left as a clean crimp and were not brushed out. Entire head crimped, working away from the face. Finished with Laminates Hair Spray.

Hair Lead - Ward

Morgane Le Fay

Hair Look: Prep hair with Shaper Smoothing Groomer. Hair should be straightened with a flat iron all over and parted on the side. On the heavier side of part, hair is divided into three triangular sections and braided with Shaper Fiber Wax. Each braid began at the top of each triangular section so that the surrounding hair covered the part. Braids were spaced evenly across the head. Finished lightly with Sebastian Originals Shaper Zero g Hair Spray.

Afshin Feiz

Hair Look: Use a round brush and blow dryer with Sebastian Originals Shpritz Forte Hair Spray on dry hair to give the hair a dry, tacky feel. Set with 2 ½ inch curling iron in large sections to create body and movement from the crown of the head down. Use a bit of Xtah Crude Clay and run fingers through the bottom to hold.

Kai “Myself”

Hair Look: Section hair into 2 inch sections and shpritz quickly with Sebastian Originals Shpritz Forte Hair Spray. Next wrap in 2 ½ inch curling iron. Hold set with clips for approx 20 minutes and then shake out. Effect is slight, “thoughtfully unstructured” natural wave.

Hair Lead - Oleg Sennik

Boy George/B-Rude

Hair Look: The look is Futuristic Mohawk. Triangular sections off-center with fringe. Flat-ironed with Laminates Hair Spray to create a geometric point. Rest of hair slicked back with Shaper Smoothing Groomer into a low ponytail. Top 2 inch section behind fringe was parted below the crown. 2 inch subsections within that part. Backcombed and created a fan. Added neon accents in the fringe. Finished with Sebastian Originals Shaper Hair Spray.

Shelly Steffee

Hair Look: Dry hair is prepped with Shaper Smoothing Groomer and using the hands to shape, pulled back into a low ponytail with uneven texture on top. Fabric was tied to the base of the ponytail and hair was worked into a low, vertical bun integrating the fabric with each twist. The look is set and finished with Shaper Originals Zero g Hair Spray.
